Slideshow

I will be focusing on a very talented lady named Tiffany Nicole. She is driven, goal oriented and a leader. She is very outgoing and social. She has started her own business and is very involved within her church community, job and family. Since she is socially involved, I think she will be the perfect person for my slideshow. Her personality and sweet spirit makes her worthy of two minutes, as well as her being very socially involved.

"Lights...Camera...Edit"

This story is about the earthquake in Italy. The story was reported and shot very well. The words of the reported matched with the video. The story was told correctly. The tone and mood of the reporter went well with the type of story it was. From looking at the video and the pictures of the earthquake and the people involved, emotions run high. You can feel the emotion of the people in the story. Their were a variety of shots shown of the damages of the earthquake which gives you the full effect of the disaster. Not only were their a variety of shots shown of the damages but of survivors as well. The story provided a great deal of natural sounds. A lot was happening in the background while the story was being reported and you can actually hear and be aware of the sounds in the background because the natural sounds stood out. The shots followed a direct sequence and flowed well by telling the story of what happened during and after the earthquake. The story had great footage.

About My Audio Story

This story was a little difficult for me. I always have trouble with the sound and working with the programs on the computer.

Relating to my beat, I chose to go to a Lounge. I reported on an event called the "Yo Bunny Happy Hour" that happens every Wednesday hosted by Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity. I interviewed the president of the fraternity here at Towson. He explained why they host the event.

About My Feature Story

How to story

How transfer students become socially involved

I interviewed two transfer students here at Towson and one expert. The transfer students explained their experience, discussing the hardships of being a transfer student and trying to become involved and what they did to actually get involved on campus.

The expert gave great ideas on how to get involved on campus.

For some transfer students it may be a piece of cake to get socially involved but thats not the case for every one. Therefore I reported on each of their information and explained how to get socially involved being new to campus.

Social Collaboration

The article Facebook Valuation Stood In Way Of Twitter Deal focuses on the idea of Facebook buying Twitter. The two companies both discussed the deal in the fall and they could not agree on a price or structure. The value would have to be paid in Facebook stock. With Facebook having two different values of worth, confusion set in.

Twitter was ready to make the deal, offering Facebook cash and stocks. Facebook was not ready financially, so the deal did not happen.

If these two companies would have joined forces it would have opened a door for various opportunities in the social network. Both comanies are already popular and it would be very interesting to see what the outcome would have been. The article could have added the affects the two companies would have had on society. I would have investigated a more in-depth reasoning as to why Facebook was not as eager as Twitter was to make the deal. The article could have included opinions of staff from both Facebook and Twitter. Also, voices of the people and how they felt about the whole situation.

My Attack

I will be writing a how-to story. How to become socially involved being a transfer student.

I will talk to transfer students about their transfer experience. My focus is on the topic of social life; what they did to adapt to the change, how they became involved and the difficulties they faced, if any. I will talk to some one in charge of any social activites about this and get a better insight on the approach to becoming more involved on campus.

Transfer students come from all over, they may or may not be familiar with anyone or anything on campus. Like non-transfer students, they live on or off campus so I will also focus on the difference between the two. Of course people are different, some shy and some outgoing, this plays a role in a transfer student experience as well. Taking all things in to consideration, I will develop a "how-to" story, aiming to reach both transfer and non-transfer students. By reading my story I hope it encourages transfer students to get involved and urge non-transfer students to help transfer students they know to get involved or just simply reach out to them and make their experience a little less difficult.

Feature Story Ideas

I have yet to come up with a specific story. I was thinking about dating and relationships among college students. I would focus on those who are apart of Greek Life, those who are not and the difference. Each topic (greek Life, partying, school work) would all be tied in and how they may affect dating/relationships. This is just an idea, I am still not sure if this is what I want to cover.
